Summary
This study looked at whether adding allopurinol (a gout medication) to lisinopril (a blood pressure drug) could better protect kidneys in 80 adults with type 2 diabetes and normal uric acid levels. Participants were split into two groups: one received both drugs, the other lisinopril alone. Researchers tracked kidney function over a year. The goal was to see if the combination slowed kidney damage better than lisinopril alone.
