Could a new pill tame adult ADHD symptoms?
NCT ID NCT07755410
First seen Aug 10, 2026 · Last updated Aug 11, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This phase 2 trial is testing whether an experimental tablet called ALKS 7290 can reduce ADHD symptoms in adults. About 312 adults with ADHD will take either the drug or a placebo daily for 4 weeks. Researchers will measure changes in symptom scores and watch for side effects to see if the drug is safe and potentially effective.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- ALKS 7290 tablets taken daily by mouth
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could point toward a new daily medication option for adults with ADHD, potentially offering better symptom control with fewer side effects.
- What could go wrong
- This is an early-phase trial with a small number of participants and a short 4-week treatment period. It may not show a clear benefit over placebo, and the drug could have side effects that outweigh its advantages.
