Blood test aims to boost alcohol counseling success for HIV patients

NCT ID NCT07444359

Summary

This study is testing if adding a blood test that shows recent alcohol use to a standard counseling session helps people with HIV drink less. 80 adults in Uganda with unhealthy alcohol use will be randomly assigned to receive either the standard counseling alone or the counseling plus a discussion of their blood test results. After 3 months, researchers will check if participants found the combined approach acceptable and if it helped reduce drinking.
