New trial tests if stem cell boost beats chemo alone for rare amyloid disease

Summary
This study tests whether adding a stem cell transplant to standard chemotherapy works better than chemotherapy alone for people newly diagnosed with AL amyloidosis, a rare disease where abnormal proteins damage organs. About 338 participants will receive either chemo plus a stem cell transplant or chemo alone, followed by long-term maintenance therapy. The goal is to see which approach better delays organ damage and improves survival.
