NCT ID NCT04972331
First seen Mar 08, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 11 times
Summary
This study tested whether an automated AI voice system can effectively follow up with patients after shoulder surgery. 310 adults who had arthroscopic shoulder instability surgery at least 12 months prior received an AI phone call to complete a survey about their recovery. Some patients got a text message beforehand to see if it improved response rates. The AI's accuracy in capturing patient-reported outcomes was compared to a human reviewer. The goal was to see if this technology can make postoperative follow-up easier and more efficient.
