AI ultrasound could replace costly MRI for Kids' liver fat checks

NCT ID NCT07265011

First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study tested whether an artificial intelligence (AI) program can accurately measure liver fat using ultrasound images in children aged 8 to 18 with a fatty liver condition called MASLD. The AI's results were compared to MRI scans, which are the current gold standard. If proven accurate, this AI tool could offer a faster, cheaper, and more accessible way to diagnose and monitor liver fat without radiation or the need for an MRI.
