AI reads prostate scans to predict survival
NCT ID NCT06363435
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study is testing whether an artificial intelligence (AI) system can automatically measure the amount of cancer seen on PSMA PET-CT scans in 1,500 men with prostate cancer. The AI will calculate tumor volume and uptake, and researchers will see if these measurements can predict how long patients live or when the cancer might come back. The AI results are not used to guide patient care during the study.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could lead to a reliable AI tool that helps doctors better predict outcomes for prostate cancer patients using standard scans.
- What could go wrong
- This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. The AI method is not yet proven to improve patient care, and results may not apply to all hospitals or scanners.
