First seen Jan 23, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 20 times
Summary
This study tested an artificial intelligence (AI) tool to see if it can help family doctors decide which patients with skin problems truly need to see a skin specialist. About 200 adults with skin conditions took part. Doctors took photos of the skin issue and the AI helped assess whether a referral was needed. The goal was to reduce unnecessary visits, shorten wait lists, and lower healthcare costs.
