First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 23, 2026 · Updated 28 times
Summary
This study tests whether an AI-enhanced telerehabilitation program can help college students with chronic low back pain. 120 students will be randomly assigned to either AI-guided exercises with real-time feedback, standard video-only exercises, or usual care. The program uses computer vision to analyze movements through a webcam or smartphone, helping students perform exercises correctly while a physiotherapist provides remote guidance. The goal is to see if this approach reduces pain and disability better than standard care.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
AI-enhanced telerehabilitation program with automated video analysis and personalized feedback
What this could lead to
If it works, this could make physiotherapy more accessible and effective for college students with chronic back pain, reducing pain and disability without needing in-person visits.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 120 participants. The AI system may not work as well in real-world settings, and results may not apply to older adults or people with more severe back problems.
