AI reads scans and tissues to predict stomach tumor risk without surgery

NCT ID NCT07454967

First seen Mar 07, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 12 times

Summary

This study tested an artificial intelligence (AI) model that combines CT scans, digital pathology, and patient data to diagnose gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs), predict their risk level, and identify genetic mutations. Researchers enrolled 300 adults with suspected stomach tumors who were scheduled for surgery or biopsy. The AI's predictions were compared to standard lab results. The goal is to see if AI can provide accurate, non-invasive guidance for treatment decisions.
