AI reads your eyes to spot hidden diseases

NCT ID NCT06390579

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 06, 2026 · Updated 31 times

Summary

This study tested whether an artificial intelligence (AI) program can diagnose several different eye and brain conditions from a single photo of the retina. Researchers used images from 693 patients with confirmed diagnoses to train and evaluate the AI. The goal is to create a fast, accurate triage tool that helps doctors detect serious, treatable conditions early, especially in areas with few eye specialists.
