Doctors test AI scribe to speed up paperwork
NCT ID NCT07187050
Summary
This study tested whether an AI writing assistant could help eye doctors create hospital discharge documents faster without sacrificing quality. Twenty-one ophthalmologists wrote discharge summaries for six simulated patient cases, either using the AI tool to generate a first draft or writing everything manually from scratch. Researchers measured how long it took to complete each document and had other experts blindly judge the quality to see if the AI-assisted approach was a good trade-off between speed and accuracy.
