AI heart check may skip costly ultrasound for AF patients

NCT ID NCT07486739

First seen Mar 27, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study compares an AI-enhanced electrocardiogram (ECG) to the standard echocardiogram for detecting heart problems in 1,724 adults with atrial fibrillation. The goal is to see if the AI-ECG approach is just as safe and effective, potentially reducing the need for more complex and expensive heart imaging. Participants must be 19 or older with a documented AF episode in the past year and a moderate to high stroke risk score.
