AI trained on 127,000 ECGs to predict deadly heart rhythms

NCT ID NCT07644715

First seen Jun 15, 2026 · Last updated Jun 23, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study is not testing a drug or treatment. Instead, researchers are using artificial intelligence to analyze electrocardiogram (ECG) data from over 127,000 people. The goal is to create computer models that can quickly and accurately predict life-threatening heart rhythm problems, such as long QT syndrome and heart inflammation caused by certain cancer drugs. The AI tools are being developed for research purposes only and will not be used to guide patient care during the study.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this could lead to AI tools that help doctors quickly spot dangerous heart rhythms from ECGs, potentially saving lives.

What could go wrong

This is an early research study using existing data, not a treatment trial. The AI models may not work well in real-world settings or on all patients.

Conditions

The condition(s) this trial relates to.
