AI tutor helps kids master the tricky 'R' sound

NCT ID NCT05988515

First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated Jun 12, 2026 · Updated 31 times

Summary

This study tests whether artificial intelligence (AI) can help school-age children (ages 9-17) who struggle to say the 'r' sound correctly. All children receive weekly speech therapy with a human clinician via video calls for 5 weeks. Some children also practice with an AI clinician three times a week during those 5 weeks, while others use the AI after the human sessions end. The goal is to see if AI-assisted home practice leads to better speech improvement.
