Teen Athletes' knee pain linked to core weakness and tight hips, study finds

NCT ID NCT07326046

First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 15 times

Summary

This study looked at 75 elite teen track-and-field athletes, some with knee pain and some without, to understand what body factors might be related to their pain. Researchers measured things like hip flexibility, core muscle endurance, and how the knee moves during a step-down test. They found that athletes with knee pain had weaker core muscles, tighter hips, and poorer knee alignment, suggesting that knee pain in young athletes involves more than just the knee itself.
