New study: can a therapy app curb emotional eating?

NCT ID NCT07559552

First seen May 13, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 5 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a type of talk therapy called Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), given in group sessions and through a mobile app, can help overweight people who eat in response to emotions like stress or sadness. About 78 adults will be randomly placed into groups that get the therapy, the therapy plus the app, or no treatment. The goal is to see if these tools improve emotional eating, emotion regulation, and psychological flexibility over six weeks.
