New study aims to better understand muscle weakness after ACL injury

NCT ID NCT06945133

First seen Nov 19, 2025 · Last updated Jun 21, 2026 · Updated 38 times

Summary

This study will measure how much the thigh muscle (vastus medialis) is inhibited in people who recently tore their ACL. Researchers want to see if this muscle inhibition matches a specific classification system. Ninety adults with a fresh ACL tear will have their muscle activity measured with surface electrodes and a device that checks muscle stiffness. The goal is to better understand muscle function after injury, not to test a treatment.
