Does leaving muscle on the graft help ACL healing? new study investigates

NCT ID NCT07404046

First seen Feb 15, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study looks at two ways to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in the knee. About 40 people will be randomly assigned to receive either a standard tendon-only graft or a graft that includes some muscle tissue. Researchers will use MRI scans over 12 months to see which type of graft heals better into the bone and remodels inside the knee. The goal is to learn whether keeping muscle fibers on the graft improves recovery.
