What really determines recovery after an achilles rupture?
NCT ID NCT06602908
First seen Aug 06, 2026 · Last updated Aug 07, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study follows 55 adults who have had an acute Achilles tendon rupture, treated either surgically or non-surgically, to see what factors are linked to better functional recovery after a municipal rehabilitation program. Participants will perform heel-rise tests to measure strength and endurance in the injured leg compared to the healthy one, and also report on their ability to do everyday activities. The goal is to understand why some people recover more function than others, which could help tailor rehabilitation in the future.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this study could help identify which factors most influence recovery after an Achilles tendon rupture, potentially leading to more personalized rehabilitation programs.
- What could go wrong
- This is an observational study with a relatively small number of participants (55), so findings may not apply to everyone. It does not test a new treatment, so it cannot directly improve outcomes.
