New study checks if smart sugar sensors work in tiny babies

NCT ID NCT06363929

First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study looked at how well a continuous glucose monitor (Dexcom G6) measures blood sugar in newborns with hyperinsulinism, a condition causing low blood sugar. One baby in the NICU wore the sensor on their thigh for 10 days. Researchers compared the sensor readings with standard blood sugar checks to see if the device is accurate enough to help detect and treat low blood sugar quickly.
