3D-printed guide may improve accuracy of jawbone grafts

NCT ID NCT07365852

First seen Jan 27, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 19 times

Summary

This study tested whether a custom 3D-printed surgical guide helps dentists place bone grafts more accurately in the upper jaw. Thirty patients with bone loss in the front upper jaw received grafts taken from the chin, either using the guide or the traditional free-hand method. The main goal was to measure how much bone width and height were gained, as seen on CT scans.
