First seen Jun 09, 2026 · Last updated Jun 22, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This study tests whether adding low-level laser therapy to a minor bone-poking procedure (micro-osteoperforations) can speed up tooth movement in people with braces. About 33 patients aged 12-30 will have their canine teeth retracted after premolar extraction. The goal is to shorten orthodontic treatment time and reduce complications like root damage.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Micro-osteoperforations and low-level laser therapy
What this could lead to
If successful, this combination could shorten orthodontic treatment time, reducing risks like root damage and patient discomfort.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study with only 33 participants, so results may not apply broadly. The added laser therapy may not significantly improve outcomes over MOPs alone.
As listed by the trial registrant
