New dissolving stent aims to prevent repeat tear duct surgery

NCT ID NCT07499791

First seen Apr 05, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This study tests a special stent placed during tear duct surgery to prevent scarring and infection return. The stent slowly releases medicine and dissolves over time. About 40 adults with recurrent chronic dacryocystitis will be randomly assigned to get the new stent or standard packing. The goal is to see if the stent improves surgical success and reduces the need for further treatment.
