New scan could spot hidden cancer spread in head and neck patients

NCT ID NCT05747625

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 11, 2026 · Updated 31 times

Summary

This study tests a new imaging agent called 89Zr panitumumab to see if it can more accurately find cancer that has spread in people with head and neck cancer. Standard PET/CT scans often miss or wrongly identify these spots. About 60 participants will receive the new agent and then have a PET/CT scan, and researchers will compare the results to standard imaging to see which is more reliable.
