First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 27 times
Summary
This study tested whether custom-made 3D-printed plastic (PEEK) plates work as well as standard titanium plates for fixing a specific type of jaw fracture. Eighteen adults with a broken jaw angle were randomly assigned to receive one of the two plate types. The researchers measured bone healing on CT scans and bite strength recovery over 12 weeks to compare the two approaches.
