A simple step test could change how lipedema is assessed
NCT ID NCT07752017
First seen Aug 07, 2026 · Last updated Aug 07, 2026
Summary
This study looks at whether the 2-Minute Step Test—a quick, equipment-free exercise test—can reliably measure functional capacity in women with lipedema, a chronic fat tissue disorder that affects the legs and can limit mobility. Researchers will compare the step test results with other established fitness tests and repeat the test to check its consistency. The goal is to see if this simple test can be a useful tool for evaluating and monitoring patients with lipedema.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- What this could lead to
- If the test proves reliable, it could offer a simple, low-cost way to track functional capacity in lipedema care.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage study focused on measurement accuracy, not treatment. The test may not fully capture the condition's impact.
