Plasmacytoma
MONDO:0005615Plasmacytoma is a localized mass of neoplastic monoclonal plasma cells that represents approximately 5% of all plasma cell neoplasms. There are two separate entities: primary plasmacytoma of the bone and extramedullary plasmacytoma of the soft tissues. Of the extramedullary plasmacytomas, 80% occur in the head and neck, usually in the upper respiratory tract. The median age at diagnosis is 50 years and the male to female ratio is 3:1. Long-term survival is possible following local radiotherapy, particularly for soft tissue presentations.
Also known as: plasmacytoma, solitary plasmacytoma, anaplastic plasmacytoma, anaplastic skeletal plasmacytoma (type), anaplastic solitary extramedullary plasmacytoma of the cecum (type), extramedullary anaplastic plasmacytoma (type), myeloma - solitary, myeloma, solitary

New Dual-Target CAR-T therapy takes on High-Risk myeloma
Disease control Not yet recruitingThis early-phase trial tests a new type of CAR-T cell therapy that targets two cancer markers (BCMA and GPRC5D) in people with high-risk multiple myeloma or plasmacytoma. The goal is to see if it is safe and can control the disease as a first treatment. About 20 participants will…

Experimental CAR-T therapy targets tough blood cancers in early trial
Disease control Not yet recruitingThis early-phase trial tests a new type of immune cell therapy called GPRC5D CAR-T in 18 people with relapsed or treatment-resistant plasma cell disorders, such as multiple myeloma. The therapy involves giving patients a single infusion of their own modified immune cells designed…

New imaging tracer could spot hidden cancers and fibrosis in one scan
Diagnosis Not yet recruitingThis study tests a new imaging tracer called [18F]FAPI-74, which attaches to a protein found on cells in tumors and scarred or inflamed tissue. Researchers want to see if it can show these areas more clearly than current scans. About 770 adults with various cancers or non-cancer …
