Summary

This study looked at whether eating maize that is naturally higher in zinc can improve zinc levels, reduce inflammation, and improve gut health in 60 mothers and children in Guatemala. Participants ate the special maize for 8 weeks. The goal was to see if this food-based approach could help address common nutrient deficiencies without needing supplements.
