First seen Jan 21, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 22 times
Summary
This study looked at whether a gentle yoga program could help older adults in nursing homes feel better emotionally and improve their heart health. 36 residents aged 65 and older were randomly assigned to either a yoga group or a control group. The yoga group did supervised sessions twice a week for 10 weeks, including poses, breathing, and meditation. Researchers measured depression levels, satisfaction with daily activities, and heart rate variability before and after the program.
