First seen Apr 13, 2026 · Last updated Apr 13, 2026

Summary

This study is investigating whether the time of year yerba mate leaves are harvested and how the tea is brewed (hot 'mate' or cold 'tereré') affects cholesterol and other blood fat levels in regular drinkers. Researchers will provide specially prepared yerba mate to about 200 participants and track their cholesterol over six months. The goal is to see if different harvest times or brewing methods offer better benefits for managing cholesterol levels.
