Could amniotic fluid injections regrow hair? new trial begins

NCT ID NCT07482423

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Aug 13, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This study tests whether an injection called XVIE, made from processed human amniotic fluid, is safe and might help regrow hair in adults with common pattern baldness. Thirty participants will receive either XVIE or a placebo injected into the scalp, with two treatments 90 days apart. Neither participants nor researchers will know who gets the real treatment. The main goal is safety, but researchers will also check if hair count or density improves over 6 months.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
processed human amniotic fluid (XVIE)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a new treatment for common pattern hair loss that stimulates natural hair regrowth without surgery.
What could go wrong
This is an early phase 1/2 trial with only 30 people, so results may not apply widely. The main goal is safety, not proof of effectiveness, and hair regrowth may not occur or may be minimal.
