First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study tests if a common antibiotic (azithromycin) works as well as a stronger one (meropenem) for treating a severe, drug-resistant form of typhoid fever. About 40 patients will receive one of the two medicines through an IV. The goal is to see which one clears the infection faster and reduces fever, while also being more affordable.
