New heart scan score could predict deadly rupture after heart attack
NCT ID NCT06450912
First seen Jan 16, 2026 · Last updated May 26, 2026 · Updated 15 times
Summary
This study looked at 250 people who had a specific type of severe heart attack (hemorrhagic MI) to see if a new imaging measurement, called the Wall Strain Index (WSI) ratio, could predict which patients are at risk for a dangerous complication where the heart muscle tears (cardiac rupture). Researchers used MRI scans to measure heart wall motion and compared these measurements between patients with and without bleeding in the heart muscle. The goal was to find a way to identify high-risk patients early so they can be monitored more closely.
