ER study seeks best numbing method for wrist breaks
NCT ID NCT07268547
First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 19 times
Summary
This study tests three ways to numb a broken wrist before the doctor sets the bone: a nerve block near the elbow, a numbing shot into the fracture site, or both. About 105 adults with a wrist fracture will rate their pain before and after the numbing and during the bone-setting procedure. The goal is to find which method provides the best pain relief and reduces the need for opioid painkillers.
