New study tests if cream can stop wounds from reopening

NCT ID NCT02577120

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 04, 2026 · Updated 29 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a healed wound is likely to reopen by measuring how much water evaporates from the skin (TEWL). It also tests if a special FDA-approved cream (EpiCeram®) can help prevent wounds from coming back. About 100 adults with healed chronic wounds like diabetic foot ulcers or pressure sores will take part. The goal is to find better ways to predict and prevent wound recurrence.
