Thousands of kids walk out of ERs – this study wants to know why

This study looks at why some children leave the emergency department before getting medical care. Researchers will review records of 33,000 kids aged 0-17 who visited the pediatric ER between 2024 and 2025. The goal is to understand what factors—like wait times or patient characteristics—lead families to leave without treatment, so hospitals can improve care and reduce these dropouts.
