New study: supportive labor care may ease pain and prevent postpartum depression
NCT ID NCT07451691
First seen Mar 11, 2026 · Last updated Apr 24, 2026 · Updated 3 times
Summary
This study tests whether a World Health Organization-based care model—focused on continuous support, communication, and involving women in decisions—can reduce labor pain, increase comfort and satisfaction, and lower the risk of postpartum depression. About 108 pregnant women at term will be randomly assigned to receive this model or standard care. The goal is to see if this respectful, woman-centered approach improves the childbirth experience and mental health after delivery.
