New vaccine aims to control hepatitis b, not yet a cure
NCT ID NCT07051187
First seen Apr 12, 2026 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 3 times
Summary
This early-stage trial tests a new vaccine called WGc0201 in 9 adults with chronic hepatitis B who are already stable on antiviral medication. The goal is to see if the vaccine is safe and can help the immune system fight the virus better, potentially leading to a functional cure where the virus is undetectable. However, participants must continue their regular antiviral pills during and after the study, so this is about controlling the disease, not a complete cure.
