Could a weight loss shot make knee surgery safer and less painful?
NCT ID NCT06807970
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 13, 2026 · Updated 32 times
Summary
This early study tests whether a weight loss drug (semaglutide, a GLP-1 receptor agonist) can help obese patients have less pain and fewer complications before and after total knee replacement surgery. About 54 adults aged 40-80 with a BMI of 27 or higher will take the drug or receive standard care. The goal is to see if losing weight before surgery improves recovery and reduces the need for pain medication.
