Should you lose weight before hernia surgery? new study aims to find out

NCT ID NCT05925959

Summary

This study aims to determine whether obese patients with abdominal hernias should complete a 6-month weight loss program before surgery or proceed with surgery right away. Researchers will compare two groups: one that gets surgery immediately and another that first completes a supervised weight management program. The main goal is to see if waiting for weight loss affects patients' quality of life and hernia repair outcomes one year after surgery.
