New hope for cancer patients losing too much weight

NCT ID NCT07477808

Summary

This study is testing whether adding a medication called megestrol acetate to standard lung cancer treatment helps malnourished patients gain weight and improve their appetite. Researchers will compare weight gain, appetite, and cancer treatment outcomes between patients receiving the standard treatment alone versus the standard treatment plus megestrol. The trial will enroll about 116 adults with advanced non-small cell lung cancer who have not had previous treatment for their advanced disease and have a low body mass index.
