Doctors probe hidden health risks as achalasia patients gain weight after treatment

NCT ID NCT07334639

Summary

This study aims to understand if gaining weight after treatment for achalasia (a swallowing disorder) leads to negative changes in a person's metabolic health. Researchers will follow 30 adult patients for one year after their procedure, comparing blood tests, liver scans, and body measurements taken before and after treatment. The goal is to see if the weight gain many experience is linked to problems like higher blood sugar, cholesterol, or liver fat.
