Smart watches could help doctors know when to remove breathing tubes
NCT ID NCT07198425
Summary
This study aims to see if data from wearable devices, like smartwatches, can help doctors predict which patients with a tracheostomy (a breathing tube in the neck) are ready to have it safely removed. Researchers will monitor 120 patients' heart rate and breathing patterns for 24 hours before a key step in the removal process. They will compare the data from patients who succeed in having the tube removed to those who do not, hoping to build a tool for better prediction.
