No-Needle insulin monitor tested in small study

NCT ID NCT07254364

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

Researchers at Texas A&M are testing whether a wearable device can measure insulin levels from sweat and skin fluid instead of blood. 32 healthy adults aged 18-30 or 50-90 will eat a standard meal and have their insulin tracked over time. The goal is to see if this noninvasive method can accurately reflect blood insulin changes, which could eventually help people manage their diet and metabolic health.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Standardized meal (whey protein, maltodextrin, sunflower oil)

What this could lead to

If successful, this could lead to a noninvasive way to monitor insulin levels in real time, helping people personalize their diet and manage metabolic health.

What could go wrong

This is a very small, early-stage study (32 people) testing a measurement method, not a treatment. The technology may not prove accurate enough for practical use.
