Ear device offers new hope for easing opioid withdrawal

NCT ID NCT07079826

Summary

This study is testing a small wearable device called the Sparrow Link, which is placed on the outer ear. It delivers gentle electrical signals to nerves to see if it can help reduce withdrawal symptoms like anxiety, pain, and cravings in hospitalized adults being treated for opioid use disorder. Participants will be randomly assigned to receive either the real device or a look-alike inactive version, while all continue to receive standard hospital care. Researchers will measure how much the device is used, if people find it acceptable, and whether it helps ease withdrawal symptoms.
