New breathing therapy aims to speed up ventilator weaning
NCT ID NCT07536347
First seen Apr 26, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This study tests whether adding a type of stretching and movement therapy (proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation) to standard breathing exercises helps patients in the ICU get off a breathing machine faster. About 93 adults on ventilators will be split into three groups: one gets both therapies, one gets only breathing exercises, and one gets usual care. The goal is to see if the combined approach reduces time on the ventilator and improves breathing strength.
