Could watermelon be the new sports drink? study tests recovery benefits
NCT ID NCT03380195
Summary
This study is testing whether drinking watermelon juice before exercise helps your heart rate return to normal faster and reduces next-day muscle soreness. Researchers are comparing watermelon juice against sports drinks, sugar water, and plain water in healthy adults. Participants cycle at moderate intensity, then researchers measure their heart rate recovery and ask about muscle soreness 24 hours later.
