First seen Jan 06, 2026 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 24 times

Summary

This study looked at whether a simple water immersion wrinkle test can accurately diagnose small fiber neuropathy, a condition that causes pain, numbness, and problems with automatic body functions. Researchers tested 38 adults by soaking their hands in warm water for 15 minutes and grading finger wrinkling. They compared the results to standard exams and nerve tests to see how well the wrinkle test works as a diagnostic tool.
