Liver cancer remission: is surgery still needed?

NCT ID NCT05349331

First seen Jan 17, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study looked at 74 adults with liver cancer that could not be surgically removed at first. After they received a combination of treatments (like chemoembolization, targeted therapy, and immunotherapy), some patients had their tumors completely disappear on scans. The study then compared two approaches: doing surgery to remove the remaining tissue versus simply watching and waiting. The goal was to see which approach leads to better outcomes, such as preventing the cancer from coming back.
